Weekend - Fullmoon Party, Zoo Visit, CNY Shopping

Tasha's Fullmoon Dinner
It was already a month since Tasha (my eldest sis' daughter) was born. We had a little family dinner party in a restaurant.

It was a typical Chinese dinner with shark fin soup and suckling pig (both of which we don't take), and because it was close to CNY, we got to lou-sang (raw fish salad) as well.

A full blown karaoke session was going on in another section of the restaurant (probably a company dinner). This group of people, blasting singing extremely outdated songs in horrendous voices. Tasha slept through, oblivious to the noise. Zara on the other hand was showing lots of interest in what was going on on stage, she kept wanting to get out of the room and when she saw people singing, she started dancing too, never mind if their singing sucked!

The singing and torturing didn't end, until our last course was served and when the group has left. What a noisy dinner.

Zoo Visit
Daddy dragged brought us to the zoo again on Sunday. He thought Zara has picked up quite a lot of names for animals, and it should be more fun for her compared to the last time.

The weather was so hot, and Zara so much heavier, it was quite a torture, physically, when I had to carry her in the sling.

Zara was quite excited when we could see the elephants, giraffes and flamingoes up close. We got a chance to feed the camel, but Zara wouldn't do it as she was afraid. I fed it instead, and Zara just looked on gingerly.

At one resting area, the zoo keeper was handling a tiny green snake. He passed it to me when I showed interest in it. And yes, I had the little fella twirled around my arm (Daddy was so disgusted he just walked away, so no photos of the snake lady). I asked Zara to stroke the snake, but instead, she was squashing the snake with her pincher grip! I had to unclutch her 2 fingers, fearing for the snake's life. I quickly passed the snake back to the zoo keeper.

We spent almost 2 hours in the zoo and at the end of it, we were all sweaty and smelly, and then, it was to KLCC to enjoy the aircon and to get some retail therapy!

Shopping
This was the only weekend left before CNY (Chinese New Year), so we went to KLCC and did lots of shopping both on Saturday and Sunday. The sales are still on, more reason to grab something.

As usual, we bought the most for Zara. She had to have new top, new bottom, new pajamas, new everything for CNY.

Daddy wanted to get me a good and expensive handbag. One which is big enough to hold some of Zara's stuff like a water bottle, a few pieces of diaper, a tupperware to hold some biscuits.

We were looking around in Coach, Furla, Burberry (oh, Zara just loves the signature sheep on display) and Ferragamo. I loved this and this (with pix shown), but when I looked at the price tag, I just cringed (although I pretended to look cool and behaved I could afford 10 of those).

In the end, I settled for a LeSportSac which was just 10% of the price of the above items. I am too kiam siap (Chinese: stingy) still can't bring myself to buy a bag with a 4digit price tag.

  3. sometimes it amazes me how kids can change so fast..i still remember your post on her last visit to the zoo and look at her now, instead of fear, she is actually excited to see the animals...

parents change too with the arrival of the kids...we can spent so much buying stuff for the kids and somehow, we turn "kiam-siap" when it comes ourselves...

    the power of kids...

albie, unlike us, zara's mama showed face many times in her past blog...pay attention :P

  11. 4 digit handbag...certainly if kena snatch, u will be crying for the bag, not for the things inside :P...that's what i always tell myself, don't get something too pricy, or else if it's lost, we get more heartache.

  13. The women in your household are obviously much braver and adventurous than the man of the house!! LOL

It is good to instill the love for animals in a child. I love the zoo... You're carrying Zara?? Why not the stroller?? lol Are you doing weight lifting or what carrying big girl Zara around the zoo!! After you develop muscle like those women wrestler you baru tahu!!

  14. You and Zara dare to touch the snake! Zara have got your genes definitely! I don't think I would want to touch a snake thru out my life!

I had never bought a handbag more than 3 digits, not to mention 4 digits. As long it is functional and not too ugly, will be good enough for me.

  15. lb,
just like Two Little Fella said.. pay attention.. I have short hair, since was pregnant with Zara until now. :P

You said,"I like Burberry bags too.. or rather, she loves them more."

Who's the SHE? You have to tell us about HER!

    YL,
    Pity mummy!

    Cocka Doodle,
Yes, and in Mid Valley and 1U.
Unfortunately, no discount even if my daugther was named Zara.

    e*ember,
OK OK, I'm not kiam siap.. Just careful spender. :P
Yeah, I was thinking about that too, if I get an expensive one, I bet I'll scream if Zara draw over it or something.

    egghead,
yeah, bring la.. some more now their entrance fee is free. :P
2 digit bag is expensive? :O What bag do you carry now? Plastic bag ah? *LOL*

    Jesslyn,
you used to work for Poney? I love their clothes.. it suits Zara very well. Unlike the angmoh brands, Mother Care, Marks & Spencer.. they are so much bigger and looser.

Btw, are you taking up my offer of tailoring for Zara?

    Two Little Fella,
Yeah, nowadays willing to spend on Zara but not for myself. Sad.. many more years to come.

LB had his camera blocking his view.. can't see clearly. :P

    Mom2Ashley,
He offered, but I don't have the heart to get it.. Even if I were to pay for it, I also don't have the heart.. Not now anyway.

Yes, Tasha 1month old.. time flies.

    Contented Mum,
Bring Qi Ning to the zoo, but choose a less hot day. :P

Her ang pow $ I won't touch ler.. must keep for her education. :(

    Blurblur,
if it was a big snake, I'd probably freaked out. But it was so small and cute and green.

Yes, MY HUBBY IS LUCKY. Tell him next time you see him ok. :P

    Allyfeel,
You haven't done your shopping yet? I think for boys less things to buy?

    KY,
I got the bag on sale.. 30% discount. If I have to pay full price, I won't go near. :P

    Louyau,
    thanks.

    Sue,
You confinement how to shop? Get hubby to buy for Ivan and Izac!

Yah, these posh shop makes you feel intimidated.

    Jasmine,
True also hor? Better carry cheapo bag.. :P

Jeans is from Poney, their clothings quite reasonable and suitable for asian babies.

    t.ina,
    Thanks for visiting.
Yeah, nowadays spending is on all the kids.. especially girls.. so many things to buy.

    Helen,
Zara has no fear yet, but soon she will. :P

Carrying Zara because if she was in the stroller, her view is blocked by the fencing, barricade.

Both me and hubby took turns to carry her. It's like carrying a sack of rice.. hands muscle all built up.

    Jefferene,
It was a small snake, very cute. So I didn't mind. If it was a python, I won't dare. :P

I think all mummies are very careful with their spending hor. So now I know I'm not kiamsiap. :P

  16. Hey, is that you with Zara? You still carry her like that? Surprised...

I don't like going to the zoo here. My husband brought my son to the zoo once without me and he came back talking about the elephants and girrafe.

  17. Hahahaha... pincher grip! Hope the snake wasn't crushed:)

I like the red Ferragamo too, but I only shop there during their sales. It's really like a mad house! Shoppers have to queue up in order to get into the shop on the first day of the sale.
